What are B12 Injections?
Vitamin B12, sometimes referred to as the “energy vitamin,” can be the key to supporting and maintaining a healthy nervous system. B12 is also believed to help prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s disease and senile dementia. Readily absorbed by the body, B12 injections are much easier for your system to metabolize compared to oral supplements. In addition to providing you with boosted energy, a concentrated dose of B12 can stimulate the metabolism to burn the body’s excess fats and carbohydrates while facilitating nutrient absorption. Equally advantageous, B12 promotes enhanced focus and mental awareness, allowing you to be more energetically engaged in all aspects of your life.
Who can benefit?
Our patients at CosMedic Skincare who lead busy professional and personal lives often find B12 injections to be a valuable component to maintaining an energetic body and a sharp, concentrated mind. Many of our patients work long hours, manage businesses, juggle hectic schedules, or take care of diverse family demands. B12 injections can give you the energy you need to not only complete these diverse tasks, but allow you to live with a sense of vibrancy and focus.
How often do I need treatment?
B12 injections are available in single as well as double doses. A single dose injection will provide increased energy levels and added benefits to your daily performance for approximately 7-12 days. Some people may experience longer results in combination with proper nutrition. The double dose injection will provide the same benefits for a period of 2-3 weeks. These injections can be received twice a month.
What are potential side effects?
B12 injections are considered very safe and often have no side effects at all. Some of our patients experience mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site, but these side effects typically dissipate quickly. Patients who are particularly sensitive to B12 may feel “wired” after the injection, though this sensation usually lasts only 8-12 hours. If you have an allergy to cobalt, chronic liver disease, kidney disease, or any type of infection, please inform Dr. Reinertson during your consultation as you may not be an ideal candidate for B12 injections. In addition, certain medications can reduce the absorption (and therefore the benefits) associated with B12.
