Home/Blog / Thread Lifts vs. Dermal Fillers

Thread lifts and dermal filler injections are both methods of rejuvenating the face without undergoing an invasive surgical procedure. At CosMedic Skincare, our team offers the Silhouette InstaLift™ and a variety of hyaluronic acid-based fillers, such as JUVÉDERM®, RADIESSE®, and Restylane®. While each type of procedure can produce beautiful, youthful results for the right candidates, thread lifts and dermal fillers address signs of aging in a different way. As a result, they provide different outcomes. As suggested by their names, thread lifts work by lifting while dermal fillers work by filling.

Thread lifts like the Silhouette InstaLift are designed to elevate sagging tissue to a younger position. This is possible as absorbable surgical threads are placed underneath the skin and pulled, which suspends the lax tissue. The Silhouette InstaLift also incorporates Sculptra® Aesthetic in small bidirectional cones, which helps promote collagen growth over time. The dermal filler procedure involves injecting product into areas where volume has depleted with age. This not only restores a more youthful facial contour, but helps diminish fine lines and wrinkles for a smoother appearance.

Determining which treatment is more appropriate for a patient will depend upon the condition of their skin and their personal preference. For some patients, a thread lift and dermal filler injections can be performed together, complementing each other and providing more significant improvement. Both procedures are considered temporary, but the Silhouette InstaLift generally produces longer-lasting results, as the Sculptra Aesthetic continues to stimulate collagen production.
