How does DOT Therapy work?
DOT Therapy is setting a new standard for skin rejuvenation in fractional laser resurfacing. Unlike other laser resurfacing technologies, DOT Therapy leaves islands of healthy tissue surrounding the microscopic “DOTs” in your skin, which induce immediate skin tightening and stimulate new collagen growth. This enables your skin to heal more rapidly and will minimize overall downtime. Patients are often amazed at how tight their skin feels immediately following the procedure. DOT Therapy is designed to improve the skin’s texture and tone and to correct fine lines, shallow and deep wrinkles, acne scars and skin laxity; it is a great procedure to tighten aging skin of the face, neck, décolleté, and hands.
What are the benefits of DOT Therapy?
A single treatment at our office can successfully reverse the appearance of aged and sun-damaged skin. It will also improve texture and firmness, smooth out lines and wrinkles, reduce the appearance of acne and other scars, and renew your overall complexion. The improvements are dramatic for most and can greatly improve your appearance. Best of all, the treatment is safe and quick. Acne scarring and other facial scarring may require multiple treatments to receive maximum results. If your unique condition requires multiple treatments, we will endeavor to build a custom package to help save you money on your course of treatments.
Who is a candidate for DOT Therapy?
DOT Therapy is ideal for patients with the following concerns: sun-damaged skin, brown spots, wrinkles, fine lines, large pore size, compromised skin texture, and poor skin laxity. It is also ideal for patients with certain types of scarring, especially acne scarring. Since Dr. Reinertson can control the depth, spacing, and size of the laser penetration, we are able to treat a large scope of skin types. Darker skin types require spot testing before proceeding with a full treatment; we have successfully treated up to skin type V with our DOT Fractional CO2 Laser.
What areas can be treated?
DOT Therapy is the ideal approach for skin rejuvenation. It is commonly used for reversing the signs of aging on the face, around the eyes, the sun-damaged and aged skin of the neck, décolleté, chest and back, and excellent for treating the appearance of aging hands. It can be particularly useful for treating facial scars, including those caused by acne and can easily treat those pesky wrinkles around the mouth.
What is a typical procedure like?
DOT Therapy is a great solution for patients that want to avoid the surgical knife and the dangers of anesthesia. The procedure is comfortably performed in our Seattle office under the care of Dr. Reinertson. You will be awake and numb prior to the procedure to reduce discomfort and able to communicate with the doctor. During the procedure, Dr. Reinertson will apply a pattern of tiny scanned pulses of energy to your skin with a controlled laser. The DOT procedure is customized to your skin type and the results you wish to achieve. The doctor can adjust the laser’s settings to tailor treatment to obtain the best results for you. Adjustments can be made throughout the procedure to more accurately treat specific areas such as acne scars, facial folds, and fine lines.
Since the treatment is customized to your unique condition, the time for treatment will be determined at your consultation. During the procedure you will feel a heating sensation as the laser begins to do its work. We utilize a cooling technique which makes the experience much more comfortable for our patients. Once the procedure is complete your skin will begin to repair and renew.
Is the treatment painful?
At CosMedic Skincare we utilize a cooling technique that will make your experience much more comfortable than traditional CO2 Laser treatments. You will be awake and numb prior to the procedure to reduce discomfort and able to communicate with the doctor. Dr. Reinertson will discuss the specific details of the procedure during your consultation and will build a plan to best serve your needs to ensure the highest level of comfort.
What are the common side effects?
Immediately following the procedure, the skin will look and feel as though you have a sunburn and may have subtle pinpoint bleeding. Your skin will be sensitive and will need to be treated diligently with a daily customized regimen of skincare products to ensure proper healing. You should expect the treated areas to be red and tender for 5-10 days on average, as the skin begins to build new collagen and heal. Within 7-10 days the redness will reduce and new healthy skin will begin to form. You will have a residual redness that will fade to a slight pink color as new revitalized skin replaces the previously damaged skin. After the initial healing period patients can utilize proper skincare to correct skin pinkness.
How long before I notice results?
DOT Fractional CO2 Therapy will stimulate your skin and own collagen, and begin working immediately. The islands of untreated skin will assist in building new elastic collagen by inciting the body’s natural wound healing process to create new youthful collagen in the skin, and begin to bring about healing and rejuvenation. You will begin to feel a new tightness to your skin immediately post treatment, and continue to as your body renews the treated areas with new tighter skin. You will begin to notice dramatic results after 1-2 months and continue to see improvement for 6 months post treatment. With proper skincare and sun protection, DOT Therapy results can last up to 5+ years.

Special treatment utilizing the DOT Fractional CO2 Laser
The Madonna Eyelift is the perfect procedure for those who want brighter, younger looking eyes without going under the knife of plastic surgery. Improve droopy, crape-like skin, and the telltale signs of aging around the eyes. Within 3-5 short treatments with DOT Therapy, you can receive the benefits of less wrinkles, tighter skin, lift sagging brows, reduce dark circles, improve skin laxity, and attain perkier brighter looking eyes that you had in your younger years. The Madonna Eyelift requires a bit of patience and will require multiple treatments but the cost and benefits can outweigh the cost and dangers associated with a traditional eyelift, known as a blepharoplasty. It also has the added benefit over a surgical eyelift in that the results will be gradual and less obvious to your family, friends and coworkers.
